Jon Leible enters his third season with the Chowan Hawks’ football program as the assistant coach for offensive line.   Leible also serves as the Recruiting Coordinator.

During the 2018 season, Leible coached the program’s first American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-American in Donald Boone.  Boone earned All-CIAA First Team, D2Football.com Second Team All-American, BOXTOROW All-American, and Don Hansen Super Region Two First Team selection.  Darell Cherubin earned All-CIAA Second Team, while Aaron Ray and Donte Wooten were named CIAA Honorable Mention.  David Keck picked up a CIAA All-Rookie Team selection.  Leible and the offensive line helped produce the seventh best scoring offense in the country (41.9 points per game), along with the sixth best total offense in the country at 511.7 yards per game.  The “Trench Mob” led the way to the program’s second 1,000+ yard rusher in Tyrell Freeman on his way to breaking the school record in rushing yards in a single-season and career.

Prior to coming to Chowan, Leible served as an Offensive Line coach at Central Connecticut State for three seasons.  During his time at Central Connecticut, Leible coach three All-New England Conference selections on the offensive line.  Leible was in charge of all facets of the offensive line and recruited parts of New York and Connecticut.

Before his stint with Central Connecticut, Leible was the Assistant Head Coach for Offensive Line and Recruiting Coordinator at the University of New Haven in Connecticut for four seasons.  He started his tenure as a graduate assistant and worked his way up to the promotion of Assistant Head Coach during the 2014 season.  While at UNH, Leible coached seven All-Conference selections including two named All-Super Region and a Gene Upshaw Award finalist in David Stedman.

The offensive line at UNH helped the team lead the NE-10 in scoring offense with 40.6 points per contest and 467.9 yards per contests including 209.7 rushing yards per game.  During his time, Leible received his Master’s degree in Social Studies Secondary Education from UNH.

Leible started his coaching career at LaSalle Institute as the Offensive and Defensive Line coach.  He was in charge of the practices and breakdown of the opponent film as the team finished with a 9-1 record.

Prior to coaching, Leible played for the Indoor Football League with the Green Bay Blizzard and the Arena Football League’s Albany Firebirds.

Leible was a football student-athlete at the University of Albany where he was named Second Team All-Northeast Conference and 2008 ECAC FCS All-Star.  Leible was also named 2008 UAlbany’s Offensive Linemen of the Year and Most Improved Player.  He helped the team to back-to-back Northeast Conference Titles in 2007 and 2008.  During the 2008 season UAlbany won the Gridiron Classic Championships.

Leible graduated from UAlbany in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in U.S. History with a minor in Political Science.
