Jodi Clugston begins her third year with Chowan University as the head women’s soccer coach. Clugston brings to Chowan experience from some of the highest levels of competition with the vision of continually improving the level of play at Chowan. Clugston has accumulated a 12-23-1 overall record in two seasons at the helm of the womens' soccer program. After a solid recruiting class, this fall Clugston will boast the largest roster in her tenure as head coach.
As a stellar player Clugston played two years at the University of Virginia under head coach Steve Swanson before suffering a career ending injury. After her injury she remained an integral part of the team by serving as a student-assistant coach until 2005. Prior to her days at UVA, Clugston represented the United States as a member of the Under-16 and Under-18 National teams as a goalkeeper.
Outside of her coaching experiences at UVA, Clugston has been involved with several U-16 and U-19 soccer programs in her home state of Pennsylvania. She also has seven years of Region I Olympic Development Coaching experience in both Pennsylvania and Virginia. In 2007 she spent one season as the assistant coach at Lamar University (TX), working with goalkeepers.
Before coming to Chowan in 2008 Clugston held a professor position at Lamar University (TX) teaching graduate level Kinesiology. Clugston graduated from the University of Virginia in 2006 with a M.S. in Health and Physical Education. She also received her Bachelor of Science in Education from UVA.
