Peter Green enters his second season as head coach of the Chowan University volleyball program. Green came to Chowan after serving as assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College for five seasons. After Green's first season, the team finished 22-12 overall while finishing 2nd in the NCCAA South Region. Green returns an experienced team led by three juniors, Nicole Shoup, Tiffany Chambers, and Antoinette McCollough.
The Yellow Jackets have consistently finished in the top three teams of the reputable NCAA DIII Old Dominion Athletic Conference since 2003. Green played an integral role in the recruitment and retention of the student-athletes on the volleyball squad while he was employed with RMC during those seasons.
Along with his assistant coaching experience at RMC, Green brings with his a vast club coaching background in the greater Richmond and Fredericksburg areas of Virginia. He has been a head coach in the respectable Richmond Volleyball Club organization this past year and spent over five years with the Fredericksburg Juniors Volleyball Club as both an assistant and head coach.
From 2001-2003 Green was employed by his alma mater, Fredericksburg Christian High School. After serving as an assistant coach for the JV girl’s volleyball team in 2001, he was promoted to head coach in his final two seasons. In 2002 he led that team to a 2nd place conference finish. He also served as the head varsity boy’s volleyball coach in his last year and guided that squad to a 3rd place conference finish.
After four years of varsity volleyball playing experience at FCHS, Green continued his education and playing career at Cedarville University (OH). He played two seasons with the USVBA while at CU. He graduated in 2000 with a B.A. in Management Information Systems and Small Business Management.
Green grew up in a military family and has lived in various locations both state side and overseas. He currently calls Fredericksburg his hometown. He holds USA Volleyball CAP I and IMPACT Certifications.
