Football has been practicing for a week in preparation for their 2010 season opener at Lenoir-Rhyne on August 28th while the volleyball and soccer squads will get underway with practices this afternoon. The volleyball team boasts a 14 player roster to begin the season with six returning players, including last year's CIAA Rookie of the Year, Karina Monroe. The event is set for Thursday, August 19th at 6:00pm on the upper athletic practice fields on the campus of Chowan University.  ESPN's Talkin' Sports' Gattis Hodges will be on hand for a live remote show. He will interview coaches and players and preview the upcoming sports seasons at Chowan. All four of CU's fall sports teams will offer free mini-clinics and games to all participants. Registration is open to all children from ages three through 12 (or 8th grade). The league features outdoor practice clinics and Saturday indoor soccer play.
