MURFREESBORO , NC - The Chowan University softball team placed four of it's team members on this year's NCCAA All South Region Softball Team. The Hawks wrapped up the season at 31-24 overall and claimed their first-ever CIAA Tournament Championship in April. They also garnered the program's first-ever NCAA DII post season appearance. BLOOMSBURG, PA - The Chowan University softball team's season came to an end today at the 2010 NCAA DII Atlantic Regionals after losing to West Virginia Wesleyan University 8-2. The Hawks completed the season with a 31-24 overall record. West Virginia Wesleyan moves on in the loser's bracket to play Indiana University-PA. HAMPTON, VA – Twenty student-athletes representing ten of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association’s (CIAA) eleven member schools have been named to the 13th Annual CIAA Commissioner’s All-Academic Team. This year’s team defines the total NCAA DII student-athlete experience with each member excelling on their respective playing fields and courts as well as in their classrooms and communities. BLOOMSBURG, PA - The Chowan University softball team battled with #1 Bloomsburg University this morning but fell 5-2 in the opening game of the NCAA DII Atlantic Regionals. The Hawks trailed 2-0 through four innings but picked up a clutch pinch hit single from Megan Wade in the top of the 5th inning to score two runs and knot the game at 2-2. Bloomsburg battled back to score three runs in their ensuing at-bat and held on to the eventual 5-2 win. Chowan will face off against top seeded Bloomsburg University, who is making their 28th straight NCAA post season appearance, an NCAA record. The Atlantic Regional Tournament is being hosted at two sites, Bloomsburg University and California University-PA. WEST LIBERTY, WV - The softball team picked up two wins over West Liberty State University to gain their 30th and 31st wins of the season. The Hawks cruised to a 9-1 first game victory and 18-4 nightcap win to improve to 31-22 on the year. Third year coach Mandi Balduf has guided her team to back-to-back 30 wins seasons.
