On the women's side, Johnson C. Smith blanked the Hawks 5-0 while the men fell 5-0 to Virginia State University. The Hawks dropped a 7-2 decision to Shaw but rebounded with an 8-1 victory over St. Augustine's in CIAA conference play.  Chowan's men were not as fortunate, losing to Shaw 9-0 and then 7-0 to St. Augustine's. Smith swept Chowan's men's and women's tennis in CIAA court action this afternoon with final match scores of 9-0 and 9-0. The men's team remains winless after today's match at 0-9 overall and 0-6 in the CIAA. The women fall to 8-10 on the season and 7-6 in the CIAA after today's loss. The men will replay matches with Virginia State and Saint Pauls College from a week ago, which wiped their first wins of the season over SPC off their overall record. The men will make up their match with VSU tomorrow afternoon in Ettrick, Virginia. A date and time has not been set with Saint Pauls.
