MURFREESBORO – Dennis Helsel, Vice President for Athletics at Chowan University, announced today the hiring of Dan DeRose as Chowan University's new men’s basketball coach at a press conference held on the University’s campus. DeRose will become the third head coach of the men’s basketball program in four-year school history, and only the second since the school transitioned to NCAA DII status in 2005. DeRose will assume the position on April 19th. MURFREESBORO - Chowan men's basketball players Jaleel Nelson and Lando Morrison headline this year's NCCAA All South Region Team after helping the Hawks to an 18-10 overall record and 2nd place CIAA West finish. Sophomore Mark Brown was named All South Region Honorable Mention after posting more than 14 points an outing. Nelson and Morrison also earned spots on the NCCAA All-American Team.
