Box Score DUE WEST, SC - The Chowan University women's lacrosse team picked up a 17-11 road win over Erskine College in Conference Carolinas play on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improved their overall record to 4-7 and the league record to 3-4. Currently the Hawks sit in a tie for 6th place (twelve teams) in the conference standings after Saturday's match. The Hawks got six scores from
Jennifer Caird in Saturday's win.
The Hawks jumped out to a 10-5 first half lead and held the Flying Fleet off the lead through out the second half of play for the eventual 17-11 win. The Hawks posted their second highest scoring total of the season (Montreat, 20) and their top scoring performance in the Conference Carolinas in Saturday's match.
Besides Caird's six scores,
Heather Orell posted four scores.
Leslie Escobar and
Alexandria Hammonds each scored two goals. Hammonds collected 12 draw controls on the day to go with her two scores.
Tashana Barnett,
Misten White, and
Jasmine Latney each added a score in the win.
Shaena Ravenell posted six saves in the net for Chowan.
Chowan will travel to the University of the District of Columbia in their next outing on April 5th. Match time is slated for 3:00pm. The Hawks will get back to conference play with a trip to Limestone College on April 8th and back to back home matches against Converse College (4/15) and North Greenville (4/22).
