BOX SCORE The Chowan University women's basketball team dropped their fifth straight game on Saturday evening against the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University in the A.C. Jordan Arena.
Naima Harrington led the Hawks with 10 points in the CIAA Northern Division contest.
T'Shea Glenn added eight points in the 60-53 loss to Bowie State.
Cortney Baynard and Jasmine Jacobs paced the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points apiece in the win.
Janelle Murphy opened the game up with a three pointer for the Hawks. The Lady Bulldogs used a 10-1 run to pull ahead 10-4 with 13:00 left in the first half. Bowie State maintained control until
T'Shea Glenn's jumper at the 8:40 mark allowed the Hawks to take the 16-14 lead.
A lay-up and a Hawk foul gave the Lady Bulldogs a 17-16 advantage with 7:02 left in the half. Chowan remained within striking distance but Bowie State grabbed a 27-24 lead heading intothe locker room at halftime.
After the intermission, Danille Coleman's lay-up and two made free throws from
Talaya Lynch gave the Hawks a 28-27 advantage over the Lady Bulldogs. With 16:41 left in the game, Baynard's three pointer gave Bowie State a 33-30 lead. From there, the Lady Bulldogs held on to the lead and maintained control for the remainder of the game.
The Hawks slide to 4-19 overall and 4-10 in CIAA play after Saturday's 60-53 loss to Bowie State. The Lady Bulldogs improve to 7-15 overall and 4-10 in the league.
Chowan travels to Lincoln (PA) on Wednesday to take on the Lady Lions. Tip-off is slated for 5:30pm.
