UNC-Greensboro Downs Hawks in Exhibition Play

Warren Powers had 15 points for the Hawks on Sunday.
GREENSBORO, NC- The Chowan University men's basketball team fell to UNC-Greensboro in exhibition play on Sunday afternoon.  The Spartans topped the Hawks 97-58 to improve to 2-1 on the season.  The Hawks remain 0-1 on the year with Sunday's contest counting as an exhibition for Chowan. 
 
Warren Powers led the effort for the Hawks with 15 points in the contest and seven rebounds.  Kortez Smith added nine points in the exhibition.  Tiron Brown chipped in 14 assists.  Kyle Cain led UNC-Greensboro with 17 points while Tevon Saddler and Tyrone Outlaw collected 16 and 13 points respectively.  RJ White collected 11 rebounds. 
 
The Hawks hung with the Spartans early in the first half until Diante Baldwin's layup at the 13:31 mark gave UNC-Greensboro a 17-9 lead.  Chowan battled to pull within striking distance but UNC-Greensboro pulled away with a 49-25 lead at halftime. 
 
Chowan continued to work through the second half to overcome the deficit using a spread offensive attack but the Spartans closed out the exhibition with the 97-58 victory.  The Hawks return to the Helms Center on November 23rd to take on Davis and Elkins College.  Tipoff is slated for 4:00pm.
