SALISBURY, NC- The Chowan University women's basketball team grabbed a 54-51 victory over the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears on Monday evening. 

Talaya Lynch paced the Hawks with 22 points in the win.  She was 8-8 from the charity stripe and collected four steals.  Janelle Murphy chipped in seven points, four assists and three steals. T'Shea Glenn was key in the first half, sinking six points to allow the Hawks to take a 23-11 lead heading into halftime. 

Jasmine Murphy tallied a double-double for Livingstone as she collected 14 points and 12 rebounds while going 3-3 from behind the three point arc.  Tiffany Evans added 13 points for the Blue Bears, sinking 3-5 three pointers. 

The Hawks finished the game shooting 37% from the floor, 29% from behind the three point arc, and 65% from the charity stripe. 
Chowan improves to 2-12 overall and 2-4 in league play after Monday's win while the Blue Bears fall to 6-9 overall and 2-4 in CIAA action.  The Hawks return to the Helms Center on Saturday to host Northern Division rival Elizabeth City State.  Tip-off is set for 2:00pm.
