Gerlisa Shipman Leads Hawks to 4th Place Finish at Catawba College Invitational

SALISBURY, NC- The Chowan University women's cross country team took home a fourth place finish today at the Catawba College Invitational meet held at Salisbury Community Park. 
 
Sophomore Gerlisa Shipman led the way for the Hawks today, running the course in 20:07 minutes and finishing in 10th place overall.  Jomecka Deloatch turned in another solid finish today with a 15th place finish in 20:37. 
 
Stephany Powell finished the course in 22:40, good for 24th place overall finish followed by Crystal Louramore in 26th.  Louramore trekked the course in 23:33.  Rounding out the scoring for the Hawks was Angelica Satchell with a 38th, place finish, crossing the finish line in 29:45. 
 
Head coach Allie Kolezynski stated, “Today was a great day for the women.  We've made huge improvements since our meet last week.  The team is putting in a lot of hard work, and I'm glad to see that it is starting to pay off.”
 
Catawba College took first as a team today in the meet.  The final order of finish is listed below.

2.  Winston-Salem State University
1.  Catawba College

The Hawks are off until September 19th when they travel to Richmond, VA to compete in the Virginia Union Invitational.
