CARY, NC- The Chowan University women's cross country team finished in 11th place on Saturday at the HBCU Challenge as part of the Great American Festival.  There were 14 teams that competed in the race on Saturday afternoon.

Crystal Louramore led the way for the Hawks, finishing in 33rd place overall with a time of 21:30.    Jomekca Deloatch was right on Louramore's heels, finishing in 21:49, good for 38th place overall.  

Gerlisa Shipman battled against the pouring rain on Saturday to finish in 22:03 and 44th place.  Finishing in 23:53 for Chowan was Stephany Powell, followed by Angie Satchell.  Satchell rounded out the scoring for Chowan, crossing the finish line in 29:39. 

Shaneka Sawyer also competed in the meet, finishing with a time of 29:52.
