In set one, the Hawks quickly jumped to a 4-1 lead thanks to attack and service errors committed by the Lady Vikings.  Elizabeth City State rallied back to tie the game at 5-5 and stole the momentum to get a 14-10 lead on the Hawks. Callie Armistead set Allison Smith up for two key digs to swing the serve back over to the Hawks' side of the court and tie the match at 14-14.  Chowan would take it from there and did not trail for the remainder of the set, winning by a final score of 25-20.

Chowan easily handled the second set.  They earned the serve back with score tied at 5-5 after a service error by the Lady Vikings, and regained the lead after a bad set by the Lady Vikings.  From there, the Hawks never looked back, maintaining the lead for the remainder of the second match and cruising to a 25-21 victory.

The third set was a different story.  The Hawks struggled to keep the momentum going from the first two sets, and trailed the Lady Vikings the entire set.  Whitney Green led the Lady Viking's offense in set three, leading them to a 22-25 victory and contributing five kills in the set en route to a match total of 17.

Chowan would seal the victory in the fourth set 25-17.  The Hawks maintained the lead the entire set over the Lady Viking, leading by as many as nine points at one time.
