MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University volleyball team came back to win three consecutive sets to defeat Barton this afternoon.

Barton won the first sets 25-18 and 28-26.  The Hawks battled back to take the next three sets 25-16, 25-16 and 15-10. 

Senior Pre-Season All-CIAA selection Karina Monroe led the way for the Hawks today.  Monroe tallied seventeen kills, forty six total attacks, along with four aces.  Nikira Fults had a solid day on the court as well after collecting fifteen kills.  Senior setter, Callie Armistead had forty-eight assists today to help guide her team to the win. 

For Barton, Kati Wood had a team high of fifteen kills, followed by teammates Meredith Watkins and Jordan Lee, talling eight and seven kills, respectively. 

The Hawks are 1-0 so far in the 2012 season.  They travel to West Virginia on September 7th to compete in the University of Charleston (WV) Tournament.  Their first match is set to begin at 4:00pm against Cedarville University (OH).
