HAMPTON, VA- The Chowan University team began pool play on Friday afternoon at the Boo Williams Sportsplex with a 3-0 win over the St. Augustine's University Lady Falcons. 
 
 The Hawks quickly grabbed the 3-0 win  (25-14, 25-10, 25-12) to move ahead 1-0 in pool play early on Friday afternoon.  In the Hawks' first match, Monica Ruffin led the team with 13 kills in the win.  All-CIAA First Team selection Karina Monroe wasn't far behind with 10 kills.  Callie Armistead collected 35 assists to guide her team to the victory. 
 
Chowan will take on Elizabeth City State at 3:00 pm in the next round of pool play.  The Lady Vikings are seeded third in the Northern Division, while the Hawks enter the match as the top seed in the North.
