RICHMOND, VA- The Chowan University women's cross country team came in first place at the Virginia Union University Panther Invitational on Friday afternoon.   Chowan had four out of their five runners place in the top ten. 

Gerlisa Shipman had a stellar performance as she finished the 5k course in 19:14 and in second place overall.  Crystal Louramore finished right behind her at the 19:25 mark and in third place. 

Jomecka Deloatch trekked the course in 19:55 which was good for a fifth place overall finish.  Stephany Powell was the fourth runner in the top ten for the Hawks, finishing in seventh place with a time of 20:37.  Angelica Satchell rounded out the scoring for Chowan as she finished in 17^th place and 26:58.

The Hawks head to Cary, NC on Thursday morning to compete in the CIAA Cross Country Championship.  The meet will be held at Wake Med Park with the women set to take off at 10:00 am.
