RICHMOND, VA- The Chowan University volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-17) win over Virginia Union University on Monday evening.
Karina Monroe led the offensive attack for the Hawks, tallying 15 kills in the win.
Callie Armistead collected 29 assists to help secure the CIAA Northern Division victory while
Cindy Ehrich and
Monica Ruffin held down the Hawks' defense with 14 digs each.
The Hawks were able to take advantage of several attack errors from the Lady Panthers in the first set.
Karina Monroe put the set away when she tallied four straight kills to move the Hawks two points away from the win. Attack errors from Virginia Union allowed Chowan to take the first set 25-15.
Seven consecutive errors from Virginia Union allowed Chowan to pull ahead 15-9 in set two. From there, five of the next seven points scored by the Hawks were earned off of errors giving them a 22-9 advantage, allowing the Hawks to cruise to a 25-12 victory.
The third set was very similar to the other two as errors plagued the Lady Panthers. The Hawks offense had a scattered offense attack from

Nikira Fults to secure the 25-17 win.
Chowan moves to 14-6 overall and 12-1 in CIAA play with Monday's win. They head to Elizabeth City State on October 24
th to take on the Lady Vikings. Match time is set for 6:00 pm.
