MURFREESBORO - Despite last night's forecast for bad weather the turn out for the 3rd Annual Fall Sports Community Night was solid. The local community had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the 2010 CU fall sports teams, coaches, and athletic department staff. The CU fall sports teams put together drills and games in their respective sports for the community members while others participated in the giveaways, face painting, and fellowship.

Gattis Hodges from ESPN's Talkin' Sports was on hand with his regional show for a live remote. Hodges had the opportunity to interview the fall sports coaches and members of the teams to preview the upcoming seasons.

"This is a great event," stated CU's Associate Athletic Director,
Patrick Mashuda. "Each year it keeps growing. It's a great kick off for the 2010 sports seasons. It's nice to see all the community come out and support what we do here at Chowan University."
The fall sports teams will kick off their 2010 seasons in less than 10 days. The football team travels to Lenoir-Rhyne University on August 28th for a 7:00pm game. The women's soccer team will host Wingate University on September 10th in their season opener while the men's soccer team will open up at Guilford College's Tournament Labor Day Weekend. The volleyball team will travel to the Fairmont State Falcon Fest on Labor Day weekend to open their season.
