Volleyball, Men's and Women's Soccers Gearing up for 2010

Karina Monroe and the CU Volleyball squad set to start practice Monday
MURFREESBORO - All four of Chowan University's fall sports teams are now underway after the volleyball and men's and women's soccer teams checked in this morning. Football has been practicing for a week in preparation for their 2010 season opener at Lenoir-Rhyne on August 28th while the volleyball and soccer squads will get underway with practices this afternoon. The volleyball team boasts a 14 player roster to begin the season with six returning players, including last year's CIAA Rookie of the Year, Karina Monroe. Women's Soccer Head Coach, Jodi Clugston, brought in the largest recruiting class in her three year tenure while Matt Phelps and the men's soccer team boasts a 20-man roster, heavy on the returning player side. 

The volleyball squad will open the season on the road September 4th and 5th at the Fairmont State University Falcon Fest. The Hawks open play with Concord University and will play four total matches all against WVIAC competition. 

The women's soccer team opens the 2010 season at home on September 10th with Wingate University coming to town for a 4:00pm match. The men's soccer team opens on the road September 4th and 5th at the Guilford College Tournament. They are set to play Guilford College and Averett University in the two-day tournament.
