PORTSMOUTH, VA - The golf team opened 2010 play with a second place team finish at the Elizabeth City State University Invitational at Bid-a-Wee Golf Club in Portsmouth. Chowan finished 18 strokes off the lead with Cliff Forbes getting CU's top score of 75. Forbes finished tied for third in the five-team tournament. Virginia State University finished up with 304 strokes to take the top spot while Chowan totaled 322 strokes. 

Calvin Wyrick finished today with a 78 while Corey Garvey totaled an 80. John Riddick shot an 89 to wrap up Chowan's top four scores. 

The Hawks will travel over to Elizabeth City tomorrow to play in a five-team tournament hosted by ECSU at the Pines Country Club.
