MURFREESBORO - Pfeiffer University handed the women's soccer team a 3-1 loss this afternoon using two second half goals to solidify the win. The Hawks fall to 4-9 after today's loss and end their three-game win streak they had coming into the match.
Pfeiffer out shot the Hawks 32 to six and score in the first two minutes of the match to get onto top of Chowan early. After a 1-0 Pfeiffer lead at the half, the Falcons scored in the 52nd minute take a 2-0 lead over Chowan. Erin Jackson scored off a free kick to pull the Hawks within a goal of the Falcons. But Pfeiffer added a goal in the 86th minute to ice their win.
Kristy Brown had 12 saves in the match in goal for Chowan. The Hawks said goodbye to seniors, Jackson, Brown, Ashley Bradford, Clara Danzeisen, and Meredith McCarthy. All five seniors had stellar careers at Chowan for the women's program. They played in their final home match today wearing the blue and white.
The Hawks will travel to Barton College on October 8th in their next match up. That game is set for 7:00pm.
