LAURINBURG, NC - St. Andrews' Sam Frazer scored a game-winning goal in the 109th minute of today's women's soccer match to lift her team over the visiting Hawks with a final score of 2-1. Chowan's
Clara Danzeisen netted a goal in the 47th minute to take a 1-0 lead that held up until the Knights knotted the game at 1-1 in the 80th minute.
After playing to a 0-0 halftime period, Danzeisen drilled a 25 yard goal to take a 1-0 lead. The two teams played each other tough through the 80th minute when the Knights scored the goal that would eventually force the overtime period. After one overtime period, the Knights scored with just under a minute to play in the double overtime period to take the match 2-1 over Chowan.
The Hawks got off 12 shots in the match while the Knights tallied 20 shots as a team.
Kristy Brown had 14 saves in goal for Chowan while
Ashley Bradford tallied 6 shots to lead the team.
Chowan will host Coker College on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm their next outing.
