MURFREESBORO - Chowan University's Head Golf Coach, Ellen Ordnung, announced today two of three golfers who will join the team in the Fall of 2009. Calvin Wyrick and Corey Garvey have both signed National Letters of Intent to play golf at Chowan.

Wyrick hails from Stokesdale, North Carolina and is a recent graduate of Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro. At NW Guilford Wyrick was a four year member of the golf team. In 2008 he was named to the Metro All Conference Team after turning in a solid season.

"Calvin has been instrumental in his team's success over the past four years," stated Ordnung. "He works hard to improve his game and has moved up in the team's playing order. With his work ethic, he should become a key player for Chowan."

Garvey comes to Chowan from nearby Halifax, North Carolina. Garvey is a recent graduate of Halifax Academy where he was the team's top golfer. At Halifax Academy Garvey also was a member of the basketball squad. "Corey has a lot of potential and comes in as his team's top golfer. He is one of those hidden-talent type of players that could sneak up and have success for us next season. I look for him to make an immediate impact in the talent level of our team," said Ordnung.

Ordnung will release one more NLI signee prior to the start of school in August.
