Westler Named to CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team
MURFREESBORO - Junior football standout, CJ Westler, has been named to the 2009 CIAA Commissioner's All-Academic Team after posting big numbers in the classroom and on the field for the Hawks this season. Westler is one of just 20 student-athletes league-wide named ot the team. Westler earned a spot on the second team.
Westler had a break out season for the Hawks this season after setting 10 program records and leading the CIAA in passing yards (2,214) and touchdowns (21) this season. He is also a member of the Dean's List at Chowan University and is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Physical Education and Sport Sciences Club.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have completed one full academic year at a CIAA institution, earned a minimum 3.20 overall grade point average, and have excelled as a starter or significant reserve in a CIAA sanctioned sport.
Westler and the Hawks will open the 2009 season against Albany State University at home on August 27th.
