GREENVILLE, SC - After helping their team to an 18-10 overall record, Jaleel Nelson and Aaron Scott, have earned one of the NCCAA's top student-athlete awards after being named to the NCCAA All-American team. Nelson grabbed NCCAA All-American First Team honors while Scott was named to the second team.
Nelson is a two-time NCCAA All-American after being named to the team last year. He led the team in shooting percentage from the floor, hitting shots at a 58% clip. He averaged 13.4 points an outing and grabbed 3.9 rebounds a game. Nelson served as one of the Hawks' deep threats hitting 39% of shots taken from beyond the arch. He notched 33 points in a 101-74 win over Columbia Union College this season and was just two rebounds short of getting a triple-double with 11 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds in a win over the Apprentice School in February.
Scott wrote himself into the basketball record books by scoring 1,073 career points, putting him 5th on the all-time scoring list. He joins the ranks of just four other players in program history to accomplish this feat. Scott led the team in scoring all season, getting 14.9 points a game. He was ranked in the top ten in the NCAA in free throw shooting percentage, hitting free throws at a an 86% clip this season.
