Chowan Athletics to Honor Clinton "Merrell" Gay
MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University Office of Development and Department of Athletics will be jointly hosting Clinton "Merrell" Gay Appreciation Day this Sunday afternoon. Gay, pictured at left, was an avid supporter of the Chowan University baseball program and the University. He will be honored with a ceremony held at 12:30pm, just prior to the 1:00pm start of Chowan's baseball game with Mount Olive College.
His surviving family members will be in attendance to help kick off the ceremony with a "first pitch" at 12:30pm. Head Coach Aaron Carroll and Vice President for Development, John Tayloe, will be unveiling a plaque on the press box wall at Hawkins Field that will honor Gay's contributions to the University and the baseball program.
