ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Hawks finished the day 369 strokes and tied for second with Virginia Union at the Elizabeth City State University Classic this afternoon. Poor weather and frozen greens forced play to be delayed for more than two hours.
Yesterday, Chowan finished second out of the four participating teams with 355 strokes, trailing Virginia State University. VSU finished in first-place today with 313 strokes while host team Elizabeth City State University finished in fourth-place with 387 strokes.
Cliff Forbes led the Hawks with 88 strokes, followed by Michael Edwards with 90 strokes. Freshmen Gregg Brooks and John Riddick shot 95 and 96, respectively.
The Golf team will travel to Suffolk, VA on March 6th to participate in 2009 Spring Fling. The Hawks will tee off at 8:30am at Sleepy Hole Golf Course.
