YOUNGSVILLE, NC - The golf team shot a total of 376 strokes to finish in 3rd place at the Louisburg College-Hurricane Whirlwind Golf Spree this afternoon. Today marked the team's 2009 spring season opener where they played at the Old Liberty Golf Club. Wake Tech Community College took first place with a total of 319 team strokes.

Host team Louisburg College finished up in second place with 330 total strokes.  Cliff Forbes finished up with 86 strokes to take the top spot on the team. He finished in a tie for 8th place in the tournament. Wake Tech's Scott Colley turned in the lowest round with a 72 to help put his team in position for top spot.

Michael Edwards shot a 91 on the day while Josh Bryant turned in a 93. Both John Riddick and James Pardo shot a 106 over the 18 hole tournament.

The Hawks will play in their next tournament on Monday and Tuesday of next week when they travel to Portsmouth to play in the Elizabeth City State University Golf Classic.
