HAMPTON, VA - Antoinette McCollough pounded out 21 kills in a five set victory over Fayetteville State University to claim the 2009 Volleyball Championship. Chowh an ended the match with 58 team kills, just edging the Lady Broncos who tallied 54 team kills. With today's win the Hawks claim an automatic berth to the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament in two weeks. 

After dropping the first set 17-25, the Hawks bounced back to take the second set 25-19. FSU took a 2-1 match lead with a 25-21 third set win. But Chowan took the last two sets 25-15 and 15-11. 

Antoinette McCollough led the team with 21 kills while Karina Monroe came in behind her with 15 kills. Victoria Lewis had 11 kills in the team's 29th win of the season. All three were named to the All Tournament Team as was Callie Armistead who had 45 assists. Monroe was named the Most Valuable Player for her performance over the weekend.
