HAMPTON, VA - The CIAA announced today the 2009 All-CIAA Football Team as voted on by the CIAA Football Coaches Association. Hawks star quarterback CJ Westler was named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league this season in passing yards, touchdowns, and total offense. Westler played in his final game as a Chowan Hawk this past Saturday, and in just two seasons broke every passing record in the program's record book.
Westler was named the to the All-CIAA Preseason Team in July and was on the All-CIAA Second Team as a quarterback last season.
Westler threw for 2,856 yards on the year to go with 25 touchdowns. He was also named to the All-CIAA First Team this year. He was named CIAA Player of the Week two times this season and was also a member of the 2008-09 CIAA Commisoner's Team.
