Golf Places Second at Trojan Classic

PETERSBURG, VA - The golf team finished up in second place at the Fall Trojan Classic hosted by Virginia State University this past Monday and Tuesday. The Hawks, who held the lead as a team after their first round, finished the two day tournament with 624 strokes, 17 strokes off VSU's 607, who took first place. The tournament was held at Dogwood Trace in Petersburg and featured CIAA teams VSU, Virginia Union, Fayetteville State, Chowan, and St. Augustine's.

Chowan's Corey Garvey shot a first round low of 72 to help lead his team to a 300 and first day lead. He came back in round two with a 77 for a 149 two round total. Both Josh Bryant and Cliff Forbes ended the tournament with 160 strokes. Bryant shot a 74 and an 86 while Forbes came in at 78 and 82. Calvin Wyrick shot a 76 and a 79 for a total of 191 strokes in the tournament. 

Chowan beat out defending CIAA and NCAA Regional Champs, Fayetteville State University by 5 strokes.
