Chowan University Athletics

CENTRAL, SC - The volleyball team has spent the last two weeks preparing for the 2008 NCCAA South Region Tournament being held this weekend at Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina. The Hawks, who finished the regular season on November 4th against Randolph-Macon College , grabbed the #2 seed in the three-team tournament.

#2 Chowan (21-11) will play #3 Pensacola Christian College (9-11) on Friday night at 7:00pm. #1 Southern Wesleyan (18-17) has a bye and will wait for the winner of the Chowan and PCC match. The Championship match will be played on Saturday afternoon at 2:00pm.

Chowan is currently ranked #15 in the NCCAA National polls while Southern Wesleyan is ranked #11 nationally. Statistically the Hawks rank 6th in the nation in attack percentage and 2nd in service aces per match.

Sophomore middle blocker Antoinette McCollough is currently leading the NCCAA National Stats in attack percentage. She has tallied 278 season kills with just 73 errors in 578 attempts (36%).
