MURFREESBORO - On the heels of a tough 59-10 loss at Lenoir-Rhyne University this past Saturday, Chowan's football team is preparing this week for a road trip to the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. The Bulldogs play in the NCAA DI Southern Conference. Saturday's game is the Bulldogs season opener. Hawks fans can follow all the gridiron action by logging on to the Chowan athletics website and the GAME DAY CENTRAL button. The Citadel's Media Relations Department will offer live stats and live audio of the game. Kick off is slated for 1:00pm at Johnson Hagood Stadium in Charleston. HICKORY, NC - Lenoir-Rhyne University amassed 631 yards of total offense in a 59-10 win over Chowan University this evening in non-conference gridiron action. The Bears had two running backs record 100-plus yards in the game while the team rushed for a combined 513 yards. The Hawks were held to 164 yards of total offense in the game, with 95 yards coming in the air and 69 yards on the ground. Chowan falls to 0-1 on the year and will travel to The Citadel for a 1:00pm kick off next Saturday.

MURFREESBORO - Despite last night's forecast for bad weather the turn out for the 3rd Annual Fall Sports Community Night was solid. The local community had the opportunity to meet and mingle with the 2010 CU fall sports teams, coaches, and athletic department staff. The CU fall sports teams put together drills and games in their respective sports for the community members while others participated in the giveaways, face painting, and fellowship.
