MURFREESBORO - Chowan University's Talaya Lynch has another honor to add to her list of achievements in just one season with the Hawks women's basketball program after being named to the Women's Division II Basketball Bulletin's All-American Freshman Team. Lynch joins nine other freshman from small colleges around the country on the team. Earlier this season Lynch was voted the CIAA Rookie of the Year after posting big numbers in her first year of collegiate competition.

Hawks Drawing Media Attention

CHARLOTTE, NC - With the men's and women's basketball programs participating in the 2010 CIAA Tournament for the first time they have drawn the attention of various local, regional, and national media outlets. The women lost a close game to Shaw in their opening round game and the men's team beat defending champs, Johnson C. Smith, last night to advance to the semi-final round tonight. With thousands of fans, media, and vendors, this is by far the biggest venue that these two teams have played in four-year school history.
